Antibodies for Autoimmune Diseases
I couldn’t find this anywhere online, so for the love of all medical students studying for Boards, it’s a big ol’ list of the rheumatic diseases and their associated antibodies:
| Antibody | Disease |
| Anti-Basement Membrane | Goodpasture’s Syndrome |
| Anti-Centromere, Anti-Scl 70 | Scleroderma (CREST) |
| Anti-ds DNA | Lupus/SLE |
| Anti-epithelial cell | Pemphigus Vulgaris |
| Anti-gliadin | Celiac Disease |
| Anti-histone | Drug-induced SLE |
| Anti-IgG, Anti-RF, Anti-CCP | Rheumatoid Arthritis |
| Antimitochondrial | Primary Biliary Cirrhosis |
| Anti-neutrophil | Vasculitis |
| Anti-platelet | ITP |
| Anti-cholinesterase | Myasthenia Gravis |
| Anti-endomyesial | Celiac Disease |
| Anti-Jo 1 | poly or dermatomyositis |
| Anti-SSA, Anti-SSB | Sjögren’s Syndrome |
Thanks!
It seems a typo has sneaked itself into your list; if I’m not mistaken, ‘Srögen’ is supposed to be ‘Sjögren’, named after a Swedish ophthalmologist?
Incidentally, I’ve found many of my non-Scandinavian colleagues are having trouble pronouncing that pesky Swedish ö. Sjögren is pronounced “shurgren”, in case you were wondering. ;)
Thanks for sharing your list! *Copy/pastes to notes.*
~Cecilie.
You are most certainly correct, Cecilie! I’ve never been able to spell the damn thing. Fixed, thanks! ;)
if we’re being comprehensive, there’s
anti-thyrotropin receptor Graves’ dz
anti-TPO, anti-thyroglobulin > anti-TSH receptor > Ab -ve (10-15%) Hashimoto thyroiditis
Keep’em comin’!
I know all this studying can start to make things seem pretty abstract, but as someone with Celiac disease (side note – along with 1:133 other Americans), I’m happy to know that you’re learning about it! Or at least about the associated antibodies.
How about anti-smooth muscle for auto immune hepatitis? (a Cecelia and a Cecilie on one page!) =)
