It’ll Hurt The Baby!
A friend just told me about a co-worker who smoked throughout her pregnancy but when offered an epidural during labor she initially declined, citing that “she didn’t want to hurt the baby.” (She later accepted the epidural.) Her child did well without complications, weighing a healthy 8 pounds. (Let’s just hope the child is a miracle baby, and doesn’t develop asthma from mom’s continued smoking.)
That reminds me of the woman who drank sodas to excess but was sure to use a straw so it didn’t damage her teeth. Even she saw the irony in that, after seeing how her health improved from the lack of sodas in her diet.
I was born in 1977 - at the time, my mom’s doctor advised her that 2 cigarettes a day was okay. I think I turned out alright… maybe…

So…the baby’s mom is only taking 6 weeks off for maternity leave when she has 3 months! I guess she figured she could smoke more at the office than she can at home. How thoughtful.
seriously? why are people still smoking?
