Body Mass Index, Illustrated
Great photoset on Flickr showing people, their height, weight, and BMI. I was surprised at how high some of the BMIs were from the photos–I must be underestimating on my patients. [thanks KevinMD!]

This is a medical weblog--a collection of thoughts about medicine, medical training, and health policy--written by a fifth-year medical student.
I recently stopped blogging, as I graduated from medical school and I'm now a physician in my residency training in New York City. But feel free to read and enjoy!
(To get rid of this thing, just wave your mouse over it. Ta da!
The photo set was created by kate harding, a woman who blogs about fat acceptance. Her point is that it’s not what you weigh that matters, but if you lead a healthy lifestyle or not. Basically, that BMI is a crock (which we in the medical field generally have trouble accepting.)
I’m inclined to agree with her – if you’re obese on a healthy diet and regular exercise, you’re fine.
What do you think about her arguments?
