My favorite eye doctor, who performed my lovely Lasik and gave me 20/20 vision for the first time ever was always hours behind.
When I was a teenager, I had a NASTY viral eye infection. The doctor was really late, but he was in the next room trying to explain to a VERY deaf woman and her driver/nextdoor neighbor WHY she was going blind and what might be done to help. The Neighbor got it but the patient required multiple reiterations.
I like this about eye docs. They do what they need to do…
